Retrofit of high beam assist (FLA)

Has anyone done this?

I've already got hold of the correct mirror part with the camera. This is just the basic high beam assistant that is built into the mirror, not the full lane assist camera that attaches to the windscreen.

It looks like I then just need to run a twisted pair cable from pin 3 and 8 of the mirror plug into pin 7 and 17 of the CAN gateway. This is the part that seems a bit hazy. I'm not sure whether there are already wires going into pins 7 and 17 of the gateway or whether i'll just need to plug my cable into it.


I've got a VCDS cable, so the coding side shouldn't be an issue.

I've got the mirror. The part number is 5G0 857 511D for the FLA mirror with auto dimming. It cost me around £80 from Ebay. I also bought a twisted pair cable from kufatec to connect the mirror to the CAN gateway.

I've not got round to fitting it yet.

Would be surprised if you didn't have to change the front screen.

You don't need to change windscreen. He said it's standard FLA, not a camera based lane assist which would require new windscreen.
