Private Plate on Leased Car

Hi Folks, Looking a bit of a pointer. I can get a plate ** GTD basically free except for a transfer fee of £80. Problem is my car is leased as a company vehicle. Has anyone any experience of putting a private plate on a lease car and what has to be done? Since the lease company is the registered keeper of the vehicle in my understanding... Not a problem. My current mk6 is a company car, with my own private plate on it. The leasing company just goes down as the nominated party and you as the owner of the plate are basically allowing the leasing company to put the plate on. My leasing company sorted it all out for me and are doing the same for my mk7.

I have not done it, but a friend of mine did. He just rang them up and they told him what to do.

Easy peasy really, although VW charge £50 quid if you do it after it is already registered on a new plate.
