Photography Class

Well I'm not sure how much attention this will get but I kind of thought of this as a good idea if we got the participation.

Everyone loves pictures so....Why not Put together a little class on photography. I figured maybe get a couple of people really into photography to grade/mediate this.

Each week get assigned a shot type...3/4 front or rear, Maybe close up, night shot, and etc. And get a set group of people willing to participate. Each week the "instructors" of this thread grade the participants in their shot. I figured using something like this would not only give us tons of car porn but also further some peoples interest in photography, or at least; this thread could better ones photography skill.

I was thinking maybe 10 competitors to 1 teacher/instructor/photography guru would be a decent ratio just so it isn't flooded with people.

Not sure if some will obey by the rules...Which would be simple...no extra talk about anything. only instruction and criticism by those involved ONLY! Maybe somehow lock this thread to those only if possible?!

What do you guys think?

Start a list of those Interested in grading/ participating. Graders would be picked by some of their shots and composition of work by, say, three random ladies or gentlemen.

120 Views and no response? Bad Idea I suppose?

Well, firstly, are you a photographer or someone looking to learn?

Is this about learning or a competition? (sounds like the latter)

Best bet... join a photography forum, plenty of that stuff there.

No its strictly about learning. What better way to learn and get better than competing against someone or something.. it shortens the learning curve drastically.
And as far as other forums for that...That wasn't the idea, nor was it what im trying to do. The best place for it is here on this forum. I'm trying to have the same media in the photos here...being MkVI's.

I glanced earlier and thought it was irl only but if it's virtual I'm in. I'm new to the MKVI scene but I dabble in other areas. My photo site is here.

I'll be willing to help out. Though I've only taken 1 class on photography lol. I see this as a great opportunity to solidify my experience.

The point of the thread is also to learn. Think of it as a classroom, and not a competition. I started learning about photography in one of these types of threads, and it was so helpful and easier to follow along compared to online tutorials. You get immediate feedback to any questions you may have, and people to critique your photos and let you know exactly what you need to do to improve. Though that other thread where I started learning about photography allowed anyone to post photos and critique, the only unofficial rule was that if you posted a photo, then you had to provide some sort of statement for its significance - whatever that may be (showing improved technique, kit, looking for guidance, etc). This mostly kept people from spamming the thread with photos just because they think their stuff is neat.

By the way I'm new too. I got my first camera in August. Though I enrolled in a photography class at start of Fall. I've learned the basics about the camera, composition, and some editing in photoshop.

I say cut it off at 15 participants. Maybe go for 8-10 weeks (one photo a week) If you guys think any different than we can do whatever you guys believe to be better.
And if anyone is willing to fill the "instructor" roll then go ahead and state that in your post. I'm thinking that instead of having a designated 3 or so graders we have the instructor and all participants comment on each photo... name their likes and dislikes about each. and then a final grade would be given for their composition that week.
This will do nothing but teach everyone how to shoot that much better, with taking into mind something they might not have thought about important. I'd say start out with a couple untouched photographs also.

If we are all basic photographers and interested in learning the basics I wouldn't mind being the instructor. I have taken the class fairly recently and got a 100% in the class so I'm pretty sure I can teach it.
