normal wacarnold's dinner for 2 is 20 chicken nuggets:

940 calories 59g fat 59g carbs 44g protein $5

Jesus christ - so that meal for one serving is about 450 calories - nutrition is:

Carbohydrates 39 g
Protein 60 g
Fats 18 g
Saturated Fat 6.6 g
Cholesterol 125 mg
Sodium 525 mg
Fiber 15 g
Vitamin A 40,000+ IU
Vitamin C 160 mg
Calcium 1050 mg
Iron 10 mg
Potassium 1200 mg

SO you cook like that every day - have the left overs for lunch the following day - have a good breakfast that takes 5 minutes to prepare and a smoothie after working out. Whammy. You have spent 35 minutes in the kitchen for the day and are not eating like a fat fuck for only a few more bucks than McDonalds.

dat cleanup time... I'm willing to assume a dishwasher is "free" and takes zero time.

clean as you go along - there is lots of lapse time in there where stuff is cooking and you can't do anything. By the time you sit down, the only dishes you should have are the ones in front of you.

:word:

I cook like that too, which is why I'm willing to make that assumption - though it's still not "free" it is close enough.

(other half doesn't cook that way sadly, she's slow and hardly does dishes - if she can cook something in an hour I can cook it in 30 mins )

Bottom line it sounds like you spend roughly 3 times what I spend on food in both time and money - it's not comparable.

Dudebro, that's too much multitasking. I prefer employing slave labor, aka my wife haha.

I'm actually really interested in that explanation Benderbrah, the main reason I don't eat "better" is money+time. Time obviously decreases with practice, but money is money.

I am really interested in what you do with your time that is so valuable? I realize you work and commute. What time do you get off, time yo get home, time you go to bed? There has to be 4 hrs or so of time in there. I am willing to bet that at some point you waste 1 hr on some stupid shit that could easily be spent on cooking for half that.

The real winning in this is Bender gets to meet Troy.

That's worth $200 either way.

I agree here. If this happens, I want vids.

If you are watching TV in your "down time" you can easily cook while you are watching.

look at the nutrition and tell me that you are getting the same "value" for your money. Also, I almost certainly guarantee I spend less in food than you do. People that eat out often truly don't know what they spend.

Here is another great example. My breakfast for the morning. Took me 2 minutes to prepare tonight - will get a scoop of protein powder, a dash of honey, and some chia seeds when it hits the blender (its berries, a banana, and a half grape fruit with two cups of kale). Less time than waiting in line at McDonalds for far less (less than a dollar in ingredients here):

Yup. That also pisses me off. His food doesn't cost any less than mine, his is just subsidized both on the front end with food subsidies and on the back end with health insurance where his costs are shared with mine.

I "waste" time relaxing, but that is valuable to me. If I don't have ~2 hours a day to relax I get more and more bitter/angry by the day until I blow up on somebody, it's a mental health thing. So ~11-12 hours on work+commute, ~8 hours asleep, ~1 hour on exercise/shower/dress/undress/whatever, ~2 hours relaxing, ~1/2 hour food, ~1/2 hour doing something actually productive at home = 24 hrs.

I would love to see evidence on something like this. (seriously - why do you say that? Common "wisom" is not sufficient)
