Some videos I found regarding the new system. It appears these new stations will have a webcam attached, but no indictation what its for that I could find from the videos or other documents. My guess is that it could possibly be used to make sure the certified tech is performing the inspection and not just clicking boxes in the system rather than performing the required tasks.

I haven't seen anything to indicate that the inspection process is changing overall for light cars. Still the same requirements its always been. https://dmv.ny.gov/brochure/new-york-state-vehicle-safetyemissions-inspection-program

The dude who posted that thread sounds like he saw a few bits of information and just assumed/inferred some things but doesn't actually know what the hell he's talking about.

Granted, I can't say I know for sure but based on this and the current inspection requirements, doesn't seem like much is changing.

I hope this is the case, it just sucks to be the first one to get caught blind sided if they do change something. We know it's possible because Cali does it. Leave us the fuck alone and fix the fucking pot holes.

That webcam looks like it's for logon purposes. Probably takes a snapshot of the technician while they login to the system. Section 5 go to 2:22 of the video.

Saw on instagram a new NYS inspection sticker that has miles and VIN. Probably came out of the new inspection system. Do we know of any tuned cars which have passed with the new system?

I'm due for an inspection soon, but my car is stuck in the shop for an issue.

You using the APR tune, or something else? I think the APR calibrations have registered CVNs with the EPA. Meaning, you'll likely pass.
