Need a new laptop

i was extremely against macs until i got one. now i refuse to buy anything else. my laptop is a 17" macbook pro thats almost 4 years old. its been dropped countless times, been spilled on, thrown around, and it still works flawlessly. not one single problem, ever. (hardware and software). only time i notice that its old is when i try to play 1080p video, it lags (720p works great). but other than that, it'll take anything you throw at it

the new ones are light years ahead of what i have, i highly recommend them, although they are very expensive

Well he doesn't wanna spend 500+. I would recommend HP if that is your budget...other wise get a mac.

I was considering a Mac till it really came to me they have vastly underpowered video cards. I'm looking at either an XPS or Alienware M11x at this point. I don't really need the screen since I've got a 26" TV I use as a monitor but I do want something I can do everyday bullshit on and toss the occasional game at.

Its true, if you game, a mac probably isn't your thing. But then if you game, a ($500) laptop probably isn't your game either.
