I love this set up and idea

It is loud? Any YouTube videos? Thank you!

Yeah, that’s my Less Aggressive CBE. A bunch of guys here on the forums have it (dual outlet).

Only the very first I built was single outlet, since most people want to fill out the valance.

Old video, but very well done.

Still a few years old, but just quick sound clips

Full blown sound testing and comparison.

My exhaust setup it trackslag catless down pipe mates to ECS catback (non valved version) drone is prettt bad right around 2,000 rpms. Would a vibrant 17950 help with drone, and what location should it be placed in?

Should help but I doubt it will eliminate it. Go back to stock exhaust.

Stock exhaust is long gone hahah. I think I’m gonna try the 17950. Any idea if the ultra quiet would be better?
What power levels are you chasing? I see zero reason for anyone to upgrade the stock exhaust unless they’re going for over 500whp. I run the ultra quiet with my IE downpipe, the vortex std and this does not bother my ears anymore. Turbo does a good job muffling the noise and doesn’t hit full boost till 3500 which is beyond the drone areas on this motor imo.

I’m right around 500whp, vortex XL on E85. The GTI exhaust does become a restriction right around that mark. The golf R catback not so much

we gotta get together sometime, I'm central PA and have been trying to make turbo decisions. I think DTR and Vortex XL are gonna be a bit big for me, but I also just like to hang with folks. There's a couple other guys in PA and surrounding areas here

I currently have a magnaflow cat back that I'm not happy with. It has significant drone at 2k and again at 3k+, which to me indicates resonator delete. I want to get a high performance cat and downpipe to go stage 2 with, in preparation for big turbo.

I recently picked up the upper half of the old APR cast downpipe. I was hoping it would come with the lower piece with a catalyst, but that's what the owner still had. I'm hoping this piece can be useful still.

I have no knowledge of exhaust fabrication, so I thought I'd ask in this thread whether this set up makes sense: I'm thinking of getting a nice GESI cat and a vibrant, and with the APR upper ask an exhaust shop to patch it into my existing catback system. Put the new cat in the old cat location. Will this work? Is a custom patchwork worth the trouble vs a prefab system?

If you find a decent exhaust shop, it'll be far far cheaper than buying another catback. Compared to the cost of a GESI downpipe, also worthwhile since the only ones on the market are $$$, but a lot of exhaust shops don't like touching downpipes if it's got a working cat already.

I can build you bolt on parts for exactly what you’re after, however;

-if it “drones” with the OEM DP any aftermarket TBE is going to be too loud for you personally.

-Even the GESI Gen2 400 cell I use on all of my CEL free downpipes won’t be CEL free in this case. Where APR places the cat is too far back (Not hot enough) to function properly & satisfy the requirements to prevent CEL.

My DP & OEM Fitment Resonated MP would cover all your bases without hurting your ears and driving you nuts.
