Issue with nav on 2017 golf r?

First I've heard that this is a hardware issue in the affected units, interesting. VW was updating software in them and sending customers on their way back in the day when this was super common.

I would lobby for a replacement. Hopefully the bad units were flushed out long ago, or maybe they'll replace it with 3Q0035876B, which seems to be trouble-free.

One hopes it’s just a firmware update. Had the 5F replaced a few years ago when it was still under warranty. Out of warranty, I think we’re talking a lot of dough.

I had two software updates not fix it then they replaced the unit still working after 2 years no issues.

I have a 2017, 86,000 miles and it just started having this issue. Random reboots, no compass and nav just sits on the loading screen. I have removed my SD card and will run it like that until my next oil change when I can have the dealership update the firmware on the module.
edit: updated the firmware from 0751 to 0757 and see the compass and navigation work again. Will report back if there are still random reboots.
