Illuminated hatch emblem installation (RGB VW LOGO)

Hi all,


I just finished the installation of the illuminated VW logo on the tailgate, looking good so far. It replaced the logo badge and the mount inside but still used the original reverse camera module. And this thing is based on the new thinned VW logo and has a flat surface. Looking good so far, it can change to pretty much any color and has many color patterns, but I do prefer to just keep it red, just align with the taillight color.

And this is even app-controlled! which basically means you can download an app extension and connect your phone to the badge via Bluetooth and control its color and pattern. But unfortunately, I got this cool thing from one of my friends who just traveled back to the US from China, and it is selling on some Chinese shopping websites for about $60, I searched via Google and didn't find anything on eBay or Aliexpress.

technically yes, this only requires two pins and the recommended wiring method is the taillight positive and finding any screw to connect to the tailgate as negative. I'll say it mainly depends on when you want the logo lights up, you can wire to reverse lights if you want the logo light on when reversing. Actually I did license plate light, as somehow the taillight voltage is not enough to power the logo, maybe cause I also retrofitted the euro MK7.5 style tailight.

If its from China...it'll pop up on Aliexpress at some point. It could be so new that it's only available locally.

If it's PnP...I'd be interested in one too. Seems like a low risk mod.

I saw some that were close to what was posted here on Ali. Even getting a brand name and part# or Sku# would help.

I don't think there's any part number since it's an aftermarket part, but I can ask my friend tho.
