Another one bites the dust.

DKM literally JUST told this guy they’re not aware of any issues.

My SB Stage 3 has 30K miles. No issues thus far. Is ACT better than SB, if so why?
I have an ACT clutch kit/SMF setup. The one that is rated 500torque. Car is an IS38 FBO, with a fairly spicy Diggs tune via ST. Clutch has 50k on it now and ZERO issues. Pedal is slightly heavier, and clutch chatter present but does not bother me. Buddy's GTI very similar to mine and on APR's best tune (whatever that is), and a SB Endurance clutch kit. He prefers my clutch to his. I drove his car and it feels like my clutch except with a higher lift off to engage? IDK felt ok to me other than his sweet spot on the pedal was higher up from the floor than my car. He said he likes mine because of that very thing, pedal sweet spot closer to floor. His clutch feels like it engages just as snappy as mine does.

Yup while it’s not fair to say one is better than a SB stage3 since plenty of people have run them and been very happy - I can say having first have driving experience with 3 different aftermarket setups in my GTI driving the HD kit ACT clutch in @Subliminal car (I pushed him towards that clutch when he was in the market too 😂 me two years ago to him “don’t get this DKM i have” ) and I will say aside from the expected idle chatter the pedal feel and way it grabs is HEAVEN !

And if I wasn’t wanting to push the car with the current hybrid or future proof it for more power I would have got it instead of the ringer I have now, but knowing how light the pressure plate was and that’s it’s an organic disc I wasn’t sold on that 500tq flywheel number and didn’t know they had the extreme plate option at the time - but if your just is38 or even just a pump gas hybrid the HD should work fine… and again - man does it feel great 😀

Cue the “everything’s fine meme”.

They must not be worried about retaining customers

They're probably more worried about litigation by admitting fault.

They also have to stop selling the product and probably "cover" anything they sold after they were "aware" of the issue. That'd why "were not aware" is such a popular phrase.

Id love to know if they are conducting an investigation. Can't be aware If you're not looking.

Yup. While it'd be nice from a customer relations standpoint to go "Sorry guys, our bad", from a business perspective, you never admit fault...

Mostly lurk, but went with the twin disc awhile back and sometime last year the TOB ate shit and nuked the clutch.

Also, destroyed the output shaft a year prior to the TOB dying on my stock trans due to shit spline fitment.

Now running SBC S3 daily without any issues.

Other than those two instances, I had no issues with the clutch, now the issues aren't little, and I would steer people very clear from their clutches on this platform due to their approach to "customer service" lol

I initially chalked up the output shaft issue to sticky tires+sticky clutch=finds the weakspot on a drivetrain making double-ish the intended power until I saw how chewed up the splines on the output shaft were

Shoulda saw what I did to a Saab trans with an Exedy hypersingle on 200 TW tires on a car making 400+ lb-ft lol. Bitch never stood a chance.

Really looking back I'd probably stick with an OEM setup with a DMF(like an RSR setup). I hate the driving characteristics but they help soften the shock and are cheap insurance on an already taxed driveline.

Please share this with anyone it could possibly save from looming catastrophic failure. All DKM Twin disc aka Stage 3 clutches are effective to this PSA.

Summed up in 120 seconds, here’s part 1

Original video the day my car broke.

Finding out what exactly broke,

Tons of additional videos on my channel showing the rebuild process which has been over 2 months and thousands of dollars. I’m still 10-20 days ETA from receiving the last of the parts.

DKM is lying to other customers with these same issues saying it’s fine, and unfortunately they were smart enough to keep our conversations about these issues to phone calls rather than emails. I have nothing to gain here, but don’t want to see anyone else unnecessarily effected by what was originally a engineering oversight, but is now clearly corporate responsibility being dodged at the expense of consumers.
Record phone calls.

Damn old friend @GTI Jake so sorry to come across this thread. Sounds like a shit company putting a lot of people in a shit situation.

Yeah, unfortunately more people than we’ll ever know. I just got a message on FB from yet another victim yesterday.

They gave him the same old “send it in”, wait several weeks, offer a new one for $500.
