I just swapped in a new clutch in my GTI. Went well overall. I think I’m having difficulty getting the VAQ diff to seat inside the transmission. I’ve got it in partially and I believe the splines are meshed up. I’ve got all four mounting bolts in but they are feeling tight before the diff is fully flush to the transmission. I don’t want to use the bolts to pull it in all the way for fear of stripping the mounting holes or worse. Please advise what I’m doing wrong and if there’s any tips or tricks to get a seemingly simple undertaking to be less frustrating.
