Golf R Engine

I had a press pass to the NY Auto Show today. It was outstanding. There was a GTI and a Golf R on display, as well as a Golf R engine. I took pictures that I thought people would want to see.

Really? I thought the R400 was just a further maxed-out version of the R's EA888 Gen 3. Like, further upgraded internals, bigger turbo, better IC, etc

The R400 that has been shown had an engine based on the 4-cylinder/2.0L EA888 Gen 3. That's not to say that VW won't change their minds if and when the car enters production.

I'd love for them to go with the 2.5L five-cylinder and offer the new ten-speed DSG in addition to the manual that was shown so far.

The 5 banger is one or two generations behind the new R motor...
The R400 has the EA888 Gen 3 motor which makes more than the TTRS motor... Lighter more efficient...
