WHAT IT BE: Eibach P/N: E10-85-041-01-22
This is the lowering spring I recommend to most of our MQB customers with DCC, or who wish to retain stock dampers and a usable suspension that doesn’t slam the bump-stops on bad roads. It’s the same spring found in the Bilstein B12 “Cup Kit”.
These are for the Mk7 and 7.5 Golf R, but they cross-fit other applications, and are absolutely brilliant on the GTI, GLI and Beetle MQB applications. Reasons below.
They’re the European linear rate, so they will ride and perform like stock, but with a much more desirable static ride height than the GTI-specific Eibachs, which are progressive, and slam the car ~30-35mm in initial drop. (We haven’t had great results with traditional progressive drop springs on this platform)
Spring rates:177lbs/in front, ~285lbs/in rears, per Eibach C/S when I called their tech team. So stock rate up front, ~10% stiffer out back.
Excellent for a daily, a family hauler, or a canyon carver on a budget.
Expected drop (real-world, I’ve studied too many of these cars, and installed this model of spring on customer cars, so the data below is pretty solid)
~40-45mm on standard base Golfs
~20-25mm on Mk7 GTIs, GLIs and Beetles
~15mm on 2018-2019 Golf R
~15-20mm on 2016-2017 Golf R
WHY THESE SPRINGS?
1) Perfect drop without slamming your bump stops and destroying your DCC dampers.
2) Stiffer than VWRs, less likely to sag or degrade than other companies.
3) No reverse rake: nice level drop, so rear spring pads aren't required like on most other spring kits.
CONDITION: Used, 17k miles, but they’re in good, clean condition. Pics reflect this.
SELLING BECAUSE… I moved to a track-focused setup and don’t need these. They deserve a good home, and I could use the funds to cover my race hobby.
WHERE? Located in north Round Rock, just 5-minutes from IKEA.
PRICE: These are $350-360 new on most of the resellers (FCP, UroTuning, ECS etc).

White car is on the springs (only).
Blue GTI is running a smallish 225/40R18 stock tire, and (I believe) rear spring spacers, so his height may appear different from your car if running larger tires.
