Whoa a lot of misinformation...
The Golf R has an FSI motor, like what you'd see in the European S3. This means you have a cam follower like the MK5 BPY FSI. You guys do however have all of the latest revision hardware, I'm not going to recommend this personally but I bought my car with 47,000 miles and the follower was swapped for the first time at 50,000. The follower doesn't wear as quickly as one would think, run good oil and you're fine for quite some time.
Once you get a HPFP (or run 130 bar rail pressure) I would then check it every 2-3 oil changes.
