Dumb Question - Volume fades in middle of song.

I only have had my car for about 200-miles, so maybe I just need to dive into the manual..but a few times now, with the Fender system turned up to moderately high volume, the volume as faded to a low level in middle of a song.

  • No incoming calls or nav info happening - nothing on MFD or radio display.
  • No fat fingers on steering controls
  • Listening to music on SD card, but no errors or skips from bad files.
  • Volume is fairly high, but no clipping or speaker distortion.

Is this an amp protection thing - maybe the amp getting hot?

It's caused by the parking sensors.
If something is getting close to the car or some object flies near the sensor it may be triggered and music volume is faded the same way it happens when you select the reverse gear and parkpilot is activated.

If it's something that triggers the sensors just for an instant then volume goes back to normal again immediately, if not then you will hear the sensor beeps.

You can set the sensor settings in the infotainment system to disable that volume fading.

Thank You

I'll check out both settings. When it happened, I was traveling at constant speed on the highway..maybe a plastic bag or something triggered the sensors?
