DSG DMF Failure and Replacement

I'm not sure exactly what my issue was to be honest. It was easier and cheaper than trying to diagnose a faulty mechatronic to just buy the junkyard DSG and replace DMF.

Got it. How much was the junkyard DSG? Maybe I should pick one up just in case.

I believe it was around $1100-1200. But make sure you get the same ID number as your original DSG. I want to say mine was a RHN.

I came across this video here. I think mine sounds similar, happens only when cold.

Does anyone know anything about timing chains and tensioners on these cars? How difficult and expensive to fix?

No codes. Car pulls fine at WOT, gears engage (I drive exclusively in manual mode). No video clip. Maybe will get it tomorrow. The sound is something between the balls in a ball bearing bouncing around a tin can and a heat shield vibrating.

Turned out to be the clamp between the downpipe and catback. It came loose and the two parts of the exhaust would rattle when cold.
