Does anyone make lightweight stock size replacement rotors?

I'm always into maximizing efficiency (especially rotating mass) it makes a huge performance difference without voiding warranties! Does anyone make something similar to these for our GTI?

I know it's for a ND Miata/MX-5. I was wondering if anyone makes something equivalent for our cars?

Tarox, but their price is...high. €970 plus shipping for the front 340x30. The rear 310x22 is about €600-€700 (I can't reacall). Keep in mind that the mass on single piece rotors are "concentrated" in the middle of the rotational mass. In racing it does make a difference. But is it worth the investment on a DD? So, the answer is: it depends...

True, I remember ED doing such rotors. ;)

I agree with Geo. Mass isn't such an issue concentrated
to the wheel center as it is on the tire. It's unsprung
mass though, but it's almost no effective rotational mass.

Though OE Clubsport S rotors are not pro-racing quality
they're lightweight as well and cheaper compared to the
pro stuff (with directional vanes and bolted hats etc.).
I don't know if they'd fit on a Mk. VII but I'd like to add
AP Racing and Performance Friction made some excellent
quality two-piece rotors. Personally I wouldn't spend a
1000 $/€ for rotors without serious tracking and running
adequate fixed calipers incl proper ventilation.

These are nice looking, but they're just one-piece and the OP was asking
for "lightweight" rotors (meaning they need to be a two-piece design). :)

Thanks for all the replies! I forgot to mention that I don't have the performance package so the Emanuel Design are a no go! The Tarox stock size replacements are not labeled as two piece lightweight rotors (only their big brake kit has two piece rotors according to their website, unless I missed something). The ECS Rotors I'm worried about cracking under track use. Most track brakes are solid or at most just have groves in them and are not cross drilled.

If anyone could please provide a link to the AP racing brake rotors or performance friction rotors that would be great! I can't seem to find the AP ones and performance frictions website seems to be down.

I do plan on tracking the car. I may just get a BBK if I can't find quality replacement rotors.

Tarox make bespoke rotors, it's written somewhere in their site. The friction areas in these discs are made of higher quality materials than their one piece discs. Ask them through e-mail and they will answer, but be prepared to hear the price.

If you plan on tracking and have the tiny 312x25 rotors, don't waste
money and time on upgraded rotors. Get a proper BBK with decend
pads and ventilation (!!). A 4-pot BBK with two-piece 330x30 rotors
would be noticeably lighter than stock PP brakes, but still better in
braking performance.
Australian-based DBA would manufacture virtually any style of rotor
you could ever imagine, but again, it isn't worth it. 312x25mm rotors
aren't that heavy by comparison.

That's what I've decided to do.

Just order these and you'll be set: 4-piston, 330mm 2-piece rotor Stoptech BBK
