Hey, I'm having trouble getting any sound after I installed this. I have a 2015 with fender audio, did all the coding changes with obd11 and absolutely no sound. Anyone have any ideas? The backup cam and drive mode work fine
Check that Byte 19 Most is set to On in addition to the coding you did for setting Byte 11 Sound System to Sound System external MOST.

Thank you for the fast response. I went out to double check and as soon as I turned on the ignition the radio started playing. So ???? Guess it needed to be restarted a few times or something. Anyway, another success story thanks to this thread

Hi all,

I am new here. I have a 2015 Golf TDI with fender audio and trying to do a MIB1 to MIB2 conversion. I also bought an 8" screen and a hacked MIB2 unit from lemonshark on ebay. Just found this thread and thought I should have gone for MIB2.5 and 9.2" screen on aliexpress instead since it's cheaper. Return might be easier on ebay though.

I am also having no sound at all after doing all the coding, with Byte 19 Most set to On and Byte 11 Sound System to Sound System external MOST. I am still waiting for lemonshark's engineer to get back to me but might as well ask here.

AppConnect is working but the volume control is locked just like the CP didn't get bypassed.

Anyone has any tips on how to fix this? Thanks!

thanks for this post! Just got my radio in. Install was a 25 minute breeze! Audio is working but backup camera is not. Any ideas? Both listed settings are changed. Also what wireless CarPlay did you use and which usb is compatible Thanks! Waiting for the digital AC controls in a few days.

Did your car have a reverse cam from the factory or was that retrofitted recently? Does your car having parking sensors?

I think this MIB unit is from TechniSat/Preh; I am not sure if the unit is compatible with the MIB1 amplifier. I have read about Delphi units working with the MIB1 amp, but not TechniSat/Preh. Maybe someone else with TechniSat/Preh experience might know more.

2015 se. factory backup cam no sensors.
I think that means there is no parking assist (verify that there is no module 10 or 76 in the OBDeleven list). I am not particularly optimistic that these will solve the problem, but worth a shot.

5F → Adaptations → Car Function List BAP Gen2 → Parking assist 0x0A → Change from Activated to Not Activated
5F → Adaptations → Car Function Adaptations Gen2 → Menu display pdc → Change from Activated to Not Activated
5F → Adaptations → Car Function Adaptations Gen2 → Menu display pdc over threshold high → Change from Activated to Not Activated
5F → Adaptations → Car Function List CAN Gen2 → PDC audio lowering → Change from Activated to Not Activated

Can you hear or see that the rear view camera is flipping outwards when you shift into reverse? Is it just a black screen?

So I will have to either get a Delphi MIB2 unit or a MIB2 fender amplifier? Another side question, if I wanna upgrade to a 9.2" screen with MIB2.5 from MIB1, I MUST purchase the MIB2 fender amplifier, is that right?

Well, I can't say with certainty that TechniSat/Preh units can't work with the existing amplifier. But if we go down the path of assuming they can't, your choices are:
  • Keep the existing unit and get a MIB2 amplifier (which should have component protection that needs to be removed if used)
  • Get a Delphi MIB2 unit and keep the existing MIB1 amplifier
  • Get a Chinese Delphi MIB2 standard special unit (i.e., the one discussed in this thread) with a 9.2" display and keep the existing MIB1 amplifier; North American maps and SiriusXM will not work. You are able to keep the existing amplifier in this case as the units are manufactured by Delphi. I think two people in this thread have audio working on 2015 Fender cars with these units.
  • Get a North American Harman MIB2 High with a 9.2" display and get a MIB2 amplifier (which should have component protection that needs to be removed if used)
I have read that some people say that MIB2 units working with MIB1 Fender or Dynaudio is kind of a hack that may not produce the best audio quality, but I have no data to substantiate that claim.

I hear the camera, there's no change on the screen. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for breaking it down for me!

this sounds like the most affordable and promising option if I can't figure out the audio with my current technisat/preh unit.

I have a 2015 with fender and have audio. It took a few tries to kick in. I also had to go in to the HU audio settings and change the bluetooth to high from low. volume was super low.
