But I'm pretty sure that the button in a manual gives you full throttle when depressed. So if you're already in Sport mode it will make no difference, but say your driving round town in Eco mode (reduced throttle), and need to pull off quickly, it temporarily gives you full throttle as if it were in Sport mode.

I have a DSG. The kickdown button is useful if you find yourself in manual mode and surprised. However, I would love to stiffen the spring pressure on that button. I find it too easy to hit.
