Just had call there the haldex servicing has been done recently.

They stated that DSG gearbox will not need serviced until 80,000 miles on the 7 speed, I think I'll get it booked in asap and get it serviced with a VW garage to be on the safe side if there is any issues with it I'll claim it under the warranty.

But other than that all looking good for Monday!

And the timing chain?

Ill get the haldex serviced again as well, you never know... its relatively cheap and doesnt hurt... also not all dealers clean the filter screen, get an independents shop to do it and make sure they send you pictures of the filter screen being cleaned.... thats what kills the haldex usually, the filter gets clogged and the pump runs dry and seizes.

In fact, like mentioned before, I would flush the entire drivetrain....

Replaced the timing chain?? Why would they do that. I bought the mrk7 with 62,000 full VW history and its like a brand new car, look after it and maintain it and youll have it for years GREAT cars
Hey I just bought a 2019 MK7.5 Golf R 2.0 TSI DSG last night, I pick the car up early next week.

I am starting to have some second thoughts due to the car having 65K miles on the clock and I'm concerned this would be high miles for these engines and I may run into trouble.

The dealer informed me the car had a full VW service history and they recently changed the following themselves:
Brake discs / Pads
Waterpump / Timing chain
Spark Plugs
Full Service
DSG gear box serviced at 40K miles (asked for this to be done again before I receive the car)

Do reckon buying a golf R with these miles be an issue? Also Is there anything else I should look out for?

I took out an extended 2 year warranty also.

Thanks in advance!

VW switched from Castrol to Mobile 1 awhile back.

For MK7.5s, specifically, the filter is not changed on the DSG service. It's not included in the service manual, and the dealerships don't change them. You CAN change the filter, but you don't have to. The filters also cost north of a hundred bucks.
This is true, except that the manual does say to change it if if there's metal in the oil or if the clutches need replacing. And the filter is only $20-30 depending on where you get it.

Yes I got the car, sorry I meant to come back sooner been a hectic week.

So all the service records are good, however I plan to service the DSG and Haldex anyway.

I'm planning to buy black pretoria alloys also.

Interested to know if you found out what the dealer actually did with reference to the timing chain. If it was done by a vw dealer then VW should have a record in the service file, any vw dealer could check that..
So expect they meant the water pump belt!
Also, If you want assurance going forward, it is possible to take out a genuine VW all component extended warranty, you can do this on line, I did my 2017 GTI PP, in march this year and it cost £238. It may be more for the R version. but it sounds good value, The all component cover is like the original manufacturers warranty, and is available until you hit 100k mile, it covers everything except those bits that are normal wear and tear. (brake pads/discs, wipers etc.) As long as you service in accordance with manufs recommendations.

Incidentally, I am about to hit VW with a claim for new headlight units on my 2017 GTI because the plastic lens/cover has got what looks like tiny little bubbles or crystals appearing within the plastic in front of the headlamp beams. I had same on my RSQ3 at just before 5 years, and they put new units in under my original 5 year warranty, a fantastic saving!!.
I argued that the plastic must be defective if it deteriorates visibly even though the car sits in garage when not in use. it seems the heat generated by the lamps causes the plastic to deteriorate internally. Anyway the same defect has appeared in my GTI headlamps, so we shall see what vw say this time.

What trim GTI?

I'm wondering what kind of bulbs they are. Shouldn't be an issue with LEDs.
