Hi.
I am about to order new wheels and tire for my 7R to use on the track.
I will have a separate track set that will be changed prior to the track event.
My previous experience is to use 18" (225x40x18) on my last car (Audi A3/S3 8p)
I used Yokohama A048 and Toyo R888R.

What do you recommend for the 7R?
I was hoping to use the OZ Ultraleggera HLT. But it's only made in 19" and greater.

So please share your thoughts and experiences.
I am on stock suspension DCC damper and spring.
Also using BBK up front using the Vagbremtechnic 362x32mm disc and bracket kit for the TTRS/RS3 4pot caliper.
So wheel must clear without rubbing and the use of spacers.

Thanks

17" :D

Why?

- almost same performance as 18"
- cheaper wheels (or lighter wheel for same money)
- cheaper tires
- top spec 17" R compounds are superior to so so 18" tires
- rubber has a short lifespan on track, cost always is a factor

The same applies to 18" over 19". ;)

If your brakes dictate using 18" or bigger, stick with these 18". In
that case I'd consider 8.5x18 with 235/40 R18 ideally. One of the
very best and quickest currently available is the P Zero Trofeo R,
but you should have added camber or you won't make use of its
full potential. For wheels I'd look for OZ's Allegerita HLT or cheaper
Sparco Assetta Gara. Better price/weight ratio.

;)

So a 18x8,5" wheels with 235x40x18" tires will not rubb?

depends on offset and ride height. most people running 18x8.5 with offset higher than 42 do not report any rubbing, even when lowered.

Thanks for the feedback.

You'll be fine with common ET45 rubbing-wise, but I have no idea if your BBK might
require using additional spacers. If you need them (and perhaps get rubbing issues)
or not highly depends on the shape of your wheels ('BBK friendly' or not) and on this
RS3-based BBK.

all of this!

i run a set of 17 x 8 superleggeras et 45. with 235 45 17 pss tires.

wheels weigh 15.8 lbs. cant tell the difference. but the price between 17 and 18 inch tires i can feel that.
