If only Gignomeus, if only. I have the car back now and not as big a job as first thought, apparently the cables that control the handbrake etc are split in lengths and just plug in at each end so quite an easy fix.

Urgent - does my mk7 gti have an immobiliser

No thief will cut the cables like that if they have any sense as they still have the immobiliser and steering lock to bypass. Sounds more like someone has taken a dislike you your car.

All - trying to sort out insurance for my new GTI tonight and insurance company said it wouldn't be covered for theft if it doesn't have an immobiliser.

Can anyone confirm quickly that it does have one already?

It has a built in immobiliser already, all new cars do as far as I know. When you lock the car there is a red LED on the drivers door panel by the mirror that flashed to show you it is active.

The flashing light on the door is for the Safelock system, but indeed the Golf has an immobiliser!

A GTi has an immobiliser and full alarm system including interior protection.
