APR Turbo Inlet Pipe

I have the non-squeezy breather fitting and installed the APR TIP shortly after you started this thread. I used a small screwdriver (<1/8" tip) as a pick to get between the fitting and stock TIP. It came off with a gentle twist and pull. Without the screwdriver, it's held on with incredible locking strength. The APR does have a defined edge to keep the breather hose on, as I can see where this could be an issue to remove again. In hindsight, I should have thrown a caliper on the APR outside diameter and compare with stock OD. Thanks for the warning Demi, it made me think about my method of stock removal and potential problems down the road on the APR.

I wonder if they changed the breather design. I have a 2016 and it has the squeeze type release ring. Very likely this will be an issue with any of the turbo inlets on 2017 models.

I have a February 2017 and it has the squeeze release type SAI hose.

Just to follow-up, it appears the hose is damaged at the opposite end of the turbo inlet, probably caused by the blunt force trauma from when I twisted and yanked to slowly get it to slip off the first time around. Here's a pic of that which I also posted in the 'oil smell' thread.

It looks like 28mm, and the same as OE from my measurements.

After a removal of a bad hose and install of a new hose, I'd have to say AlienSP's description about technique is spot on. The trick was wedging a thin flat-head screwdriver under the hose connect and then leveraging pressure on the connector head to clear the lip on the TIP. Once it's over the TIP lip on one side, then keeping pressure on and twisting should work. Easier said then done of course.

I beat my old hose connect up pretty good with it still on the car trying to use a pick, flat-head, and a lot of obscenities to get it to budge. Once the TIP was removed from the car, better sense could be made of the angle to use.

Here is a cross section of the aftermath, after my turbo inlet pipe bung ripped out with the hose still attached. Hopefully this will help someone in the future apply the correct prying angle while pulling to avoid my issue.

Just ordered the CTS TIP and my 2017 has the new style PCV. I'm a bit worried about installing it now and either ruining my PCV or not having it click into the new TIP securely.

If it doesn't click, just send it back. If it clicks and you're not worried about ever removing it, you're golden. If you want to remove it, reference the last picture. You might need a right angle pick to pry the plastic lip away, separating the tongue from the groove before attempting to pull if off. Don't pull the tube like you pull your pud before using the pick or it will just expand the tongue and make things more difficult.

A little late, but thanks for checking the dims Crudulous and the excellent cross-section demi90d. Now I know what's in there.

My PCV hose wouldn't clip on the CTS inlet elbow, needless to say it is going back to ECS tuning. I've ordered an APR elbow instead. i can deal with snug, I can't do much with loose. There was also another issue with CTS which I didn't like. I guess you get what you paid for, oh well.

I didn't have an issue with the PCV attaching to the CTS TIP. The hard part for me was getting the accordion tube over the lip of the TIP, as it's only ever slightly smaller in diameter. I had to then slide it down the TIP as far as I could, which wasn't as easy as it seems. Overall, I really enjoy the TIP.

Wait, you actually installed the intake pipe inside the elbow?
