Anything needed to protect moonroof from cracks, etc?

With folks talking about issues they have had with their moonroofs, is there anything one should do as maintenance to prevent cracks/leaks. I know to look for drain blockage, but otherwise just hope for the best?

Take the little red caps off the end of the drains under the cowl. Look at the inside edges of the sunroof (plastic drain portion) and make sure there are no cracks, otherwise repair with patch kit or like me use RTV. Other than that, just clean the car regularly and hope for the best. Mine leaked for a while but fixed after using RTV.
