18x8.5 ET45 + H&R springs - tire advice

Hey guys.

Currently running 19” VW Pretoria’s with 235/35/19 Indy 500 tires. 20mm and 15mm spacers.

Absolutely love how the car looks but it rides terrible and with 3 people in the car it rubs on big bumps.

Some photos of how she sits.

Anyways. I ordered a new set of wheels, 18x8.5 ET45 and am wondering what tires I should go with.
225/40 is what I currently have ordered but I am wondering if I could fit something a little wider/taller side wall without any rubbing?

Just looking for some advice from people with H&R springs with 18x8.5 et45 wheels.

Appreciate any help!

235/40/R18 will fit easy. Plenty of 255/35/R18 will also, but may be tight on the rear of a GTI.
I did decide to go with a 255/35/18, I talked to a few guys on Facebook running this exact set up and none of them mention any rubbing.

I did talk to a few people that said 235/40/18 caused rubbing sometimes

it's very much tire-dependent. i'd be curious to know which 235s rubbed, generally even fairly wide 235s like an RT660 are still narrower than a 255/35 PS4S for example

Did they shorten their bump stops or something? I've bottomed out my car plenty of times with 235 RT660s and never rubbed anything
