1.5 or 1.4 tsi? What’s the people’s choice?

So I have a difficult decision to make. I can go for a 50,000 mile 1.4 TSI or a 70,000 miles 1.5 TSI. Decision time.

What would the forum vote for? And why?

Depends which kW rating they are & what the rest of the spec is. Both are EA211 engines.

I thought the 1.5 wasn’t ea211?

They are called EA211 "EVO"...still much of the same design etc as the EA211 engines...just they have a Miller combustion cycle & other tweaks hence the "EVO"

Given the choice, I’d go for the 1.4.

The 1.5 EVO has had quite wide media coverage - and not in a good way;

A Google search on VW 1.5 EVO Kangarooing issue’ and you’ll find lots of other items - forums and media. VW’s fix doesn’t seem to have been entirely successful at fixing the hesitancy issue. It doesn’t affect just VW’s; other VAG brands that use this engine have also been affected. The kangaroo-ing/ hesitancy issue seems to affect cars with manual transmission more so than cars with DSG.

Here‘s the Seat Leon forum content I found from a quick search;
