Trying to determine if this is just “normal operation” according to the dealer.

Quiet Grumble in park and neutral
Whine 20 - 30 mph & 30 - 20 mph
Clatter when stopping mostly noticeable on rough roads or crawling slowly to a stop.

17 GTI Sport 38k Unmodified car has done as long as I remember.

Normal?

Thanks for the reply Lert. All these sounds are faint, windows up radio off. Maybe I just need a louder exhaust ?

Try doing a DSG Adaptation and see if it helps.
After that I would check the filter for particles and lastly change the oil and assure you are using 4.5L of OEM fluid.

If within warranty, take it in.

Thanks for the reply Mosquito, good information. Have another appointment with the dealer to take a test drive with their master tech. What is interesting is listening to videos of MK7 GTI DSG models I hear similar sounds.

I wouldn’t worry, just do your dsg fluid change at 40k and you’ll be fine. These transmission do tend to make lots of pops, clatters and weird noises, but they very rarely actually break.
