GTI Exhaust tips

Why do all (not seen any other style at least) cbe/tbe manufacturers go for slash cut exhaust tips for the mk7 gti?
Never seen an cbe/tbe with straight cut tips.

Remus offers straight tips, expensive straight tips but straight tips nonetheless.

Curious as well. I plan to do a downpipe but keep stock exhaust.

Personally I like how that setup sounds on our cars. My friend is stage two with a stock cat-back. Sounds mean and yet not like LOOOOOOOK AT MEEEEEEEE lol

I have an APR down pipe but the sound is too much for my wife so I ordered a Billy Boat Resonator for a better sound and I just ordered the eBay tips (http://www.ebay.com/itm/181676448710) $34 I gotta try this...

The great thing is that you get exactly the same performance gains from changing the tips as you do from an entire cat-back system...lol

When I had mine done by Andy here in the SF Bay Area CA, as rubb3r did, I think I paid him $60, but that included a tip because he fit me in on the spot and really paid close attention to detail.

Yeah my problem was that I recently moved into a nice neighborhood and I didn't want to be that guy that everyone could hear coming home from 2 blocks away (like my last car).

I followed OP's advice and paid $60. I pretty much just did everything OP did haha.
