Hey guys.. just got through a majority of this thread as well as the Golf R and GTI JB4 threads. Lots of useful info and help.

I don't see much on the Golf R but I wanted to get some opinions/thoughts on the logs and on switching to Map 6 and going further with boost/pushing the turbo (on an E20-30 blend/93). Or should I just stick with Map 2 and 93/occasional blends?

Car runs great. Did some street pulls against a 2016 R that ran an 11.9@115 recently ---APR stage 2 R (he was on 18 inch Cadiz, I was on the 19 inch Pretorias and I also had the full spare tire/kit in trunk, both had same gas quantity) and it was pretty close (less than a car length) starting from 3rd gear @3500 rpms to the top of 4th gear.

Mods for the 2017 Golf R/DSG are a JB4, VWR600 intake, resonator delete and RS7 plugs. FOL on the JB4 is at 50.

IATs were pretty high for the runs (over 100) but the car is running well. George agreed. Logs were done at sea level, 0.5% decline. Temps when logging in mid 70s with 70-90% humidity.

Also noticed that using straight Shell 93 gave a ton more timing correction on Maps 1/2. Switched to BP gas and they disappeared. Same testing conditions, gas was from a very busy gas station. Has anyone else noticed this?

Depends on how hard you want to push it. As you can see the R pushes more boost in 4th gear vs 3rd. Since we can't boost by gear you can't really turn up the boost much beyond where you are now as then you get into reliability concerns. You might be able to add 1 psi onto map2 safely.

We only have 93 at BP here so nothing to compare against. No issues with it.

Thanks Diggs. Appreciate the help. I'll try them out. I am waiting for some cooler nights to log also. Should drop into 60s at night around here soon. These 100+F IATs suck. Intercooler would be next mod. But car is pulling very little timing on BP 93 gas even in these conditions which I am baffled by. Shell is another story.

You really only have the IGN3 correction. I see it all the time in logs. I see it in almost every one of mine. Always IGN3. It's just part of the timing adaptation and nothing to be concerened about. IGN1 timing is advancing nicely, even better with the E.

Your IATS are actually fine, unless these are nighttime logs when it is cooler. If so, likely will get timing pull during the day here in the summer.

Having done both the IC and DP, I agree on IC as second mod. If you never get a DP you never know the difference without it. You can feel the heat sap power from your car with stock IC in the summer. 90+ outside and it gets lethargic.

Logs have been morning/evening 75-80F to and from work (long 10 mile straightaway with not many cars on it along the water). It hasn't really been very hot here this summer and I don't beat on car when it is too hot. Especially on a stock IC.

I'll play around with the boost additive values you suggested. I'll post back soon. Thanks again.

I thought I heard a little something a few days ago when it was around 98° here. It was a split second in 2nd around that rpm range. I was throttling out of a turn and suspected my muffler delete. I checked the next morning and everything was solid there, so it may have been.
What has are you using? I run 2-3 gallons of e85 with 93 from either Shell or Costco.

Running Sunoco or Exxon 93, no mixing. It has been on Map 2 with DP for 10k miles now, so wondering if its time to upgrade plugs?

I have only noticed this when its 90+ outside, and I've been sitting in traffic or something coming home from work. On a cool night, it runs like a raped ape.

So I logged Map 2 and Map 6 back to back on way home with an E27ish blend.

I went with absolute values instead of additive.

Temps 73F. Same adaptation for both files.

Gonna keep Map 2 as my daily file and run map 6 at track. Any suggestions for new values for Map 6 based on this?
Should I switch to additive and try your values? Why do some guys use additive and others absolute?

Your map6 is way too safe. Map2 is pushing more boost. Try this:

1500 16
2000 18
2500 20
3000 22
3500 24
4000 25
4500 25
5000 23
5500 21
6000 19
6500 18
7000 17

His original settings are actually pretty close to mine, with a little less peak in the mid-range.

Any plans on adding an intercooler? If you are at 70ish ambient, those settings will run great if you can get the IAT's down. My runs around those same temps are putting me 9-12psi over stock and hitting similar timing, whereas you are at 3-4psi over stock.

Gotta get those IAT's down.

Ambient is 112 and your IAT is 111? That must be some crazy W/M man!

I would start the log lower in the RPM range so you can see how the torque hits at 3k/3500.
I have it set to start flowing at 9.1psi I think. I know I should start the log earlier but I'm just not ready to replace my clutch yet although I think I had a slight slippage in that log plus I don't put hardly any power down below 3500

No intercooler yet. It is next mod.. APR or IE.

Here are new Map 6 logs/E27 blend with hybrid Diggs/George settings.. FOL is at 45.

Mods are VWR600 intake, RS7 plugs, resonator delete.

Same stretch of road. Same temps. 75-76F.

Great results for GTI IS38 JB4 this weekend. 2 cars with similar hardware, both without IC or WMI.

The cars were passed on the dyno on the same Saturday morning.

Looking forward to the IS38 Upgrade in my car.
