Try getting the MSRP while asking for any quote, so that you can exactly know the options in every car you are looking into.

I just bought my first VW. Got a 2017 GTI Sport DSG for $23250 + tax (3% here in NC), title ($103) + dealer fee of $649. $24700 OTD. Good deal or nah?

Like a previous poster, I had a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T (manual) but needed a 4-door because we have a baby coming soon. The GTI was the most fun 4-door under $30k that I could find.

I wish they had kept the Sport trim for the 2018 model year - I thought it was a good value.

I would assume your MSRP to be around $30,000. So $23,900 + TTL is a good deal. People are seeing better deals around here, but forget about the numbers and enjoy your new ride.

Btw Congrats!

Posted this in another thread, but interested to see what more folks think about it:

New Gray 2017 SE DSG (MSRP: $33,130)

Selling Price: $25,300 +$199 Doc Fee + $30 Title + Tax, Financed at 3.25%

Doesn't look like any dealerships give much of a discount when going for the 0% APR 72 month promotion. I found one slightly cheaper then that, but it was 500 miles away, wasn't worth the hassle to save $200 after calculating travel expenses.

Seems about like the going rate for a leftover 17 SE

Seems a bit high, most people are paying mid 20's for a SE.

mmm... i thought it was a good deal for a 2018.

the lowest i could get from other local dealers was $3000 off MSRP

The other choice I had was for a 2017 SE for $25,500 (~$7500 off MSRP) - in the end decided to go with the 2018...

Bought my first new car ever!

Long story short, I picked up a 2017 SE for 24700 - about 27k out the door. Thanks to all of you for the info on the forum as well as this thread to get me educated on features, price, etc.

Sounds like a good deal to me, I think you made the right choice with 2018. I may have waited if I had known there would be significant discounts right away on 2018 models.
