2017 golf tsi 4dr sport suspension kit?

hi all

new to the forum. just picked up my new golf tsi (toronto, canada dealer). wondering if i should purchase the "sport suspension" kit from vw dealer and lower the car's stance?? any advise? is the kit all i need? i simply want the car to look sharper. i'm no racer. anybody do it?? any picts?

Hi and welcome, I did this to my GSW, OEM sport springs and I also added Koni FSDs, as well as a GTI PP rear sway bar. They lower the car nicely, with no fitment issues, ride stays very near stock, though I would eventually upgrade the shocks. Here's a few pics of my GSW

If you ended up doing this, would you mind sharing your experience? Costs and how it feels? I am also in Canada (London ON) and wondering this would be better option than lowering spring. Thanks in advance

ok so what I did for the suspension on my car was as follows

the vw sport spring kit.....also if you can find a nice used set of gti springs these will work as well. the springs are linked below:

then rear sway bar from GTI PP:

Koni FSDs

I also had a rear suspension brace added that stiffens up the rear some more

It handles alot like a big gti, ride is very controlled but by no means harsh. I put about 26,000 miles on per year so I needed a good ride. I tried KW V1 coilovers and they were too harsh this setup IMO is a great ride/handling compromise

Sweet! Thanks for the awesome info! Could I put GTI stock spring to my TSI to lower my car? I thought GTI and TSI were completely different. If I can put GTI spring, that would be a possibly a bonus, since lots of GTI folks were selling their stock springs.

in the end, i may take a friend up on his offer of gifting me his 17inch oem rims. it will surely look better than the stock 15inch that came with the car. will try that out first prior to springs and such.

i saw a 2015 golf tsi (tdi) that has 17s (oem) on the lot today. i liked it's stance. the mechanic there assured me that 17inch oem vw rims will have this desired effect on my new 2017 golf tsi ("...you don't need lowering springs if you're fine with this stance...this 2015 doesn't have a sports suspension...the 17s helps the aesthetics..."). of course, it's not as aggressive as adding lowering springs.

long ago, i put 17inch aftermarket rims on my 2002 vw golf (base) and it simply didn't look right. i wondered if it was because i needed to alter the suspension. or, were the rims not correct size??

the tdi tsi i saw today was like this. 17inches makes a difference on a tsi. it beats how the TSI looks with 15inch wheels.

yes you can I needed Emmanule Design spacers for the rear because its a gsw you should be good to go. My dealer who also has a performance department they did the mods on my car told me the gti springs and the sport suspension springs are identical

This means (i have golf tsi) that i don't need a spacer for rear since those two are identical? Right?

One more thing, when you used GTI spring on your gsw, how much was the drop?

Is the "sport" suspsension the VW Driver gear springs, or some thing else?
If it's the drivers gear springs, don't think it lowers it enough. I'm running The VWR springs on my 1.8t, and I'd prefer it to be lower (the VWR springs sit a bit lower than drivers gear).

Omg, had no idea we have a Fb local group! Yeah at least i was referring to the VW DG spring as the sport suspension. VWR would lower more certainly... good to know. Thanks

Yeah we have meets as well. Trying to get some more regular weekly meets going.

The VWR feels great, didn't notice a big difference in drivability from stock. But the golf version doesn't lower as much as the GTI version. I was looking at GTI pics when I got mine since there were not that many 1.8ts running them at the time. I was disappointed to find out I wasn't as low.
