Stage 1.5 GTI vs Stock Golf R

How would a Mk 7.5 GTI with Unitronic tune 1.5 (no other mod) would do against a Stock Golf R (straight line from a start and/or a roll)

Just curious if the tune might make up for most of the price diference in terms of acceleration at least....

Stage 1 GTI mk7 on 93 will defeat a GOLF R off a roll. (R weights more/FWD is good on rolls)


Any mods to a R you're finished.

I'm only saying this because I out did a stock R mk7 in my stage 2 mk6 with FBO.

In this same scenario.

GTI is light.

let a more seasoned member prove me wrong :eek:

About a month ago I got a 15 R to replace 17pp gti. The GTI became my husband's until spring he's getting a viper. Anyway. GTI w jb4 full bolt ons Vs stock R we were dead even until 124 since jb4 doesn't removed limiter. From a dig obviously R on top. We raced 6 or so times from various roll speeds with pretty much the same outcome.

Lol, this is exactly how I felt the first time I ran a MK7 GTI. I can only assume it was stage 2 because he destroyed my ko4 mk6. I was so pissed I immediately started looking for a new MK7 GTI and researched is38 kits. I have a since upgraded to a MK7 R and it is a hell of an upgrade.
