What material are the piano black pillars ?

Hi, those piano black pillars that swirl up real easy, even when using just a microfiber, what material are they ? Is it just a hard piano black plastic ?

Same deal with those of us with a sunroof ? the large surrounding black material around the sunroof.. Is that glass?

Just wondering on if we should be claying, compounding, polishing and waxing those parts ?

What do you guys do ?

They really need to be coated with something like opticoat or cquartz to fend off the scratches. No matter what precautions I take they still scratch. They can be easily polished though.
