Source not supported with iPhone

I tried to connect my iPhone to my 2016 MK7 running MIB2 and I’m getting a source not supported message. Using a genuine iPhone cable and the latest iOS.
I’ve tried to search online and nothing. It doesn’t make sense that MIB2 can’t stream audio with cable.

There is a bug in my current software in my MIB that causes Bluetooth to freeze the volume every couple of minutes which is rather annoying. Also, using a cable produces higher quality sound.

After searching this topic online for some time, I've found an old thread that mentioned that VW only supports charging devices on this USB port unfortunately.

I believe a cable was not supported until 2017 or 2018 models
