As I needed a new rear bumper I found that second hand bumpers with PDC included were better available then those without, at least for color I need. I figured I might as well install the PDC for the rear.
Most information I found about retrofit seems to apply to MIB2 or MIB2.5 entertainment systems.
There is a lot of good information in this topic on how to install but I have a few questions.
I want to do most of the installation myself and learn more about my car in the process.
My car has the 5G0035885 media system with black/white screen which I believe is an MIB1 (discover media?). I figured that, apart from the sensors that come with the bumper, I'll need a PLA device, zoomer, the switch and some cabling.
Can I retrofit just the rear PDC without upgrading my media system?
Will it work with PLA 2.0? I suppose PLA 3.0 will not work.
Can I install a 8-channel PLA (in case I want to upgrade later) and use just the 4 rear PDC sensors for now?
What cabling do I need? What cable is used between the rear bumper and the PLA device?
