Retrofit mk7 R tail lights to mk7 GTI?

Hey hope everyone has been keeping safe and well. Long time lurker, recently picked up my 3rd Golf and second GTI and just finishing off some basic cosmetic mods- the final one for now is that I want to fit the smoked R tail lights to my GTI. Most articles/posts online refer to retrofitting LED (i.e. Euro) tail lights to North American Golfs, which requires harnesses +/- coding for full functionality. I'd rather go OEM than spraying or wrapping my lights.

Seeing as I already have LED tails on my UK GTI, would swapping them for R LED tails be literally plug and play? Or will I need a new harness or need to code anything?

Are the light from a facelift mk7.5 and what is your car a 7 or a 7.5. If your golf r lights are from a 7 and your car is a 7 it’s a strait swap but if the lights are from a 7.5 to a 7 i think the connectors are different
