Portable water softeners

Very surprised with all the money spent on products for detailing your car that no one here has mentioned what you need to do to condition your water supply.

I have a portable water softener that I use since the water where I live is fairly hard (full of minerals) and can tell you that this has been one of the best investments I have made. I use less soap, less foaming agent and the car practically dries spot free now. Very little worry about spotting up or having to clean out every nook and cranny to prevent build up of hard water stains.

This is the unit I purchased and it can be regenerated using regular table salt:

I have used a Mr. Clean AutoDry sprayer for years on the hose, with its dedicated filters it enables any low quality hose water to come out filtered and provide that real spot-free rinse. It also has the ability to use soap and foam the car up for a prewash, but I never use it for that, as I hand wash with 2 buckets. But for the spot-free rinse alone, its been well worth it.
