This first happened about 2 weeks ago and scared the sh!t out of me. Was in 2nd or 3rd (low speed) and the car dropped into neutral and message "Service Transmission" (or suchlike) displayed. I rolled to a halt, put the car in park and then back in drive and no issues. Drove on. Just happened to me twice again, with same message + "electrical park brake fault" on top. Again place car in P then drove away ok. Not a great feeling.

Anyone else here had the same issue?

Out of warranty. I took it to a local transmission specialist. They ran diagnostics and it shows an electronic issue, not mechanical. Fingers crossed it is not overly complicated. Nor expensive.:p

Mechatronics are not cheap.
I would try a DSG Reset and see how that goes. Don't have anything to loose by it. If you are willing to throw $100 bucks at it, A drain/refill of 4.5L+DSG Reset if first option didn't help wouldn't hurt either
I am assuming you have a DQ250 here. Don't know proper fill for a DQ381.

This sounds like the common shifter fault. Try taking it to the dealership and see if they might be willing to goodwill this fix. I believe there's a TSB on this very issue.

The transmission workshop cleared all the codes and could not replicate the issue after a week or driving a couple of times every day.
@ATR what is the thread you mentioned please?
