Hello all

I placed my order yesterday for a new 5 door gtd I white yesterday due to collect March 2016 (by choice). I've been trying to get quotes for the insurance but when I say it's a lease car it goes to stupid prices. £800 if it is leased and £500 if it's private owned.

Can anyone enlighten me yo why this is or direct me to any specialist companies that deal with lease cars.

The car is registered to you, so it is private ownership, how you pay for it is the lease plan.

The car is not registered to you. Both the registered keeper and Registered owner will be VWFS (or the finanace company you have gone through)

You will never see the V5c.

It is a bummer that the insurance prices go up. However yours seem to have gone up far more than for me.

I got quotes of around £410 when I was using Compare the meerkat, as this didnt have an option to set ownership.
Then when I went through to the site I changed the ownership to leased and the price went up to £475

Ill chalk it up as a win still...considering how cheaply Im getting the car. Can afford to pay a little more on insurance.

Hi
I pick up my Golf on Wednesday, I cannot wait:) It will be a lease car
I have just renewed my insurance through Direct Line and it has stayed the same price as my Audi A1 1.6D Sport. So a great price and it does not matter that it is a lease car and is owned by VW Finance. It might be worth giving them a ring for a quote.

I don't get why it goes up so much just changing from personal to lease but I'll try ringing the companies direct closer to the time. I'm going to have as my current insurer Adrian flux refuses to change the insurance over and wants me to pay 2k for a new premium.
