Hi all,

I have a Front Assist Unavailable fault which displays, most likely due to an obvious stone chip on the front sensor. I was recently quoted £1500-£2000 to fix from an independent garage. Is this an overestimate or is this to be expected for parts/labour/calibration? I seriously underestimated the cost if this is a competitive price from a non dealer.

If anyone is aware of any other local specialists that could fit and calibrate then I'd be greatly appreciative of your suggestions. I am in the Glasgow area.

Thanks

Massive overestimate IMO, providing the radar is fully defective and not "misadjusted" (as it would say in any scanning tool) you'd need to replace the sensor which you can easily pick up on ebay for around £80.

Labour is really simple, its just a case of unclipping the old sensor plug and play.

Calibration is the expensive part IF you go to a main dealer. There's a free workaround which requires parking a certain distance away from the wall and hitting the calibrate button on a scanning tool like OBDeleven. I saw a video on it the other day here - Also on a MK7.5 GTE
