Quickjacks are the gift from God we didn't know we needed.

I feel like a peasant now everytime I have to hand crank my floor jack and slide jack stands under my car.

So with the FMIC in, I think my R is pretty much done. I really can't think of anything else I want to do to it. Maayyyyybbbeee if I found a cheap set of dusty Macan's used, I'd do a Macan swap? But other than that, I can't really think of anything else I'd do to it.

Time to start looking at MK8 R's?

Ordered a set of Macan calipers directly from an OE spec/IATF16949 certified manufacturer in China. Will grab the Neuspeed Macan lines, and my standard PowerStop Z23 pads. Going to try my hand at painting them again, but will do VHT spray vs. trying to go G2 brush-on. Just doing basic gloss black so it matches the rear calipers. Using my 340mm rotors for now, since they're still fairly new (matching 345mm ones are almost $400 alone). All in, as long as I'm content with my paint job, it should be a Macan swap for under $400. A bit over once you factor in some brake fluid for the flush. But still not bad.

Your ability to find quality cheap Chinese parts never ceases to amaze me. I ordered a lip kit from ebay the other day and nothing from it is usable haha

We'll see when I get them. I did my research before pulling the trigger, given that 1) I didn't want to just waste money, and 2) Brakes are kinda an important part of a car. But this isn't some fly by night back-alley brake dealer. It's a legit company that's been in business for decades. They are an OE spec manufacturer, that is actually an OEM supplier for Chinese automotive manufacturers as well. They're IATF (International Automotive Task Force; something VAG is a member of) 16949 certified (verified on https://iatf-customerportal.org/), which requires a manufacturer to "demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and applicable statutory, regulatory and product safety requirements."

One thing I am curious about, is the pistons, and want to see what arrives. The OEM calipers have 2 different kinds of pistons in them (same size), but visibly different. It's been a while since reading through the Macan thread, but I think the general consensus was it was due to different coatings? Many of the aftermarket rebuild kits only contain 4 of the same piston (which is different than OEM). So wondering if these will have 4 of the same pistons, or 2 of the light colored ones, 2 of the dark colored ones.

Acadia in the running to be the next EQT

Eh. Difference is, I just try to help people in the community get shit for cheap. Not gouge them as much as possible for profit. While I was preemptively excited to try and do that, like I said in the other thread, not worth the hassle in this case.

I can't wait to see the results from their $50 alibaba pumps marked up to $900/kit. they've worked in a handful of cars, after all.

Don't forget to pair it with a 3D printed basket for an additional $1,000.

I didn't really like my experience with spraying calipers, the finish wasn't as good as the G2 kit.

You should put some chinese letter graphics on your car that say 'zhong zhong'

I utterly fucking failed painting my first Macan's with G2. Came out looking like complete ass. Was a user application issue though, not a product issue. I have heard it's actually easier to do when they're mounted on the car vs. off (like I was doing).

A can of VHT Gloss Black is $17. If they come out bad, I'll bring them to my local powder coater and have them blasted and coated. They're reasonably enough priced, but take forever.

the pump in that kit is made in the UK by a real company, EQT is charging more than $600 to slap a cheap chinese bucket hat and fittings on it. pure greed. should be a cheaper alternative soon.

Try using the POR15 caliper kit, it's brush on too, but I've done a few sets of calipers with them and they have turned out well.

I was trying to determine if that was some kind of joke at first, like the PEN-15 club...

Nah. Not doing brush on again. Like I said, it wasn't the product, but the act of brushing it on.

I've had good luck with regular spray paint, on my A3 I just used regular Krylon and it's holding up fine.

Unless you are tracking the car and heating up the brakes a lot, then you should probably use something rated for higher temps.
