My oil sample came back and checked out OK for wear elements but checked positive for fuel dilution. Up to 6.25% from 1.9%

This would indicate that I’m running rich.

My local APR tuner wants me to come in to smoke my car and check for a boost leak.

Pretty common to get fuel with a boosted DI car that's being pushed hard.

Step one, get AP.
Step two, get a good tune.
Step three, profit.

6.25 % is excessive. I haven't seen anyone else who runs a lot of boost with that much fuel dilution. Every time I've sent a sample to Blackstone it came back negative or immeasurable for fuel dilution.

I still need to check for boost leaks.
Going to check the waste gate calibration
I can’t verify AFR’s without data logging, so an Accessport may be in my future.

Id prefer not have to go through that expense, if I don’t have too.

In all the time I’ve tracked the GTi, this is the first time I’ve had fuel dilution this high.
Coincidence?
I’ve learned to investigate coincidences.

I’ve got some troubleshooting to do.

Eliminate some possible root cause.
The ECU is adding more fuel than what is getting to burned.

Do you have an OBDEleven - easy to log with it and check your lamda.

I agree - I beat on mine and never see enough to talk about but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Do we know it's a boost leak?
The comment was aimed at your response that I thought was saying that this issue was b/c he needed a better tune - maybe I was off-base.

I wouldn't track with an APR tune or without being able to log. Just my opinion.

Lol. I’m pretty sure GTIfan99 tracks a bunch too.

While we’re ranting though, can I complain about people who do these crazy track builds but then either a) don’t track them or b) just post photos and never any actual driving (probably because they’re slow). Or even worse, guys who lie about track times (I’m slowly busting one guys balls who claims a fast Road Atlanta time but hasn’t posted any proof yet…we shall see).

Props to Mini7 for getting his money’s worth
