No gases detected so that’s good, new tank fitted, going to see how it goes over the next few days, still expecting it to leak again and my coolant to turn shit from all the crap coolant already in the system but if it stops leaking then I’ll be getting the coolant system flushed and replaced.

Could it be the glow plugs need changing? I've changed one myself to try an fix another problem, they are cheap to get and try yourself (apart from one of them which has a sensor on) easy to take off but have to be careful they don't snap and drop into the engine block.

Update: Ended up paying £300 to have a new fuel injector fitted (waste of money as wasn't the problem nor did it fix it) Guess ekramz was right but I'd used this garage for 8 years so I trusted them as never really had any problems until recently. Now I have had VW specialist in the area look...

Heard back from the garage and they seem to think it could be a new fuel injector but could also be a couple of other issues too, not sure if I want to pay £400 to get a new injector fitted if I'm not certain it will fix the issue though.
