Replacement Pads & Rotors?

Dropped my car off for 50k service, and I need new rear pads and rotors, which I was aware of.
They're also saying that my front rotors are worn, and are recommending replacing the pads as well.

They're quoting $575 for rear pads and rotors, and $660 for front pads and rotors.
For a total of $1,235 for all 4. I think that's quite expensive.

What are some good places to find standard pads and rotors at a reasonable price, or should I go with the dealer's pricing?

My dealership in SC quoted me $477.96 front, $419.64 rear. 2015 Non PP. Might check out ECS for the parts and see what they charge you for labor. They might just jack up the labor to make up for the difference.

I'm away from home right now so can't quote exact numbers, but I know that number is stupidly high. I have a local German specialist shop do all the work, but they use OEM rotors and I select Ferodo pads, so price is comparable.

I see, those are performance pads, right? SO I should be able to get standard rotors and pads for cheaper.

These are StopTech rotors at a fraction of the price. No brainer:

You might try https://brakeperformance.com/ or rockauto.com for less expensive solutions. Also, fcpeuro.com as they give a lifetime warranty, just read the entire warranty for a complete understanding. I am assuming that you can do the work yourself.

Rockauto cheapest blanks (from 20$/rotor), or
Fcpeuro cheapest blanks
Select pads (driving style/need) on either site, or elsewhere if cheaper.

Thats my protocol anyway for last 20yrs. I would get brake fluid, personally i use ate type 200 for all my cars, and bleed the brakes as well.

And lastly, do NOT forget to bed the pads. Instructions come w pads usually. I would not fall for special rotors, and as i advised i myself have been running cheapest blanks (usually centric c tek or raybestos r line but whatever is cheapest) for 20yrs without one issue. So cheap I actually maintain one set extra in stock at all times, pads too. Lol

I do “splurge” on pads and i suggest you choose what you want there—thats where the stopping power/feel comes from. Well that and tires. But once pad go i have a new set ready to be installed w rotors, or when the mood strikes me. Then reorder the stock. ‘Merica.

Are you planning on DIY? If so, look online, as suggested earlier

If not, then find a independent VW specialist (and there are plenty to choose from in North Jersey), and ask for their estimate, if possible, ask them if you can bring in your own parts for them to install.

Thanks all, I ended up getting centric rotors and paired them with EBC reds after reading reviews. Total came out to ~$400 with some coupons. Will take to independent shop for install.

Dealerships will charge you an arm and a leg. So will many shops. Honestly, if you have a jack and a couple of jack stands, I recommend changing rotors and pads yourself. The only specialized tool you'll need is the rear caliper piston retraction tool, and you can rent that at Autozone without a problem.

PS
The GTI is my first car, I started doing work on it myself a year into owning it, never worked on cars before, never even cared. Doing a brake job is very easy.

I have a 17 non-PP car and went with StopTech blanks and Centric Pose-Quiet pads (100% daily driver). Zero complaints and the rotors have black hats so no rusty rust
