After diving in under the hood, I've suddenly started to care about how dirty it is.
Been doing some research on proper ways to clean the engine bay, seems like a spray bottle degreaser/simple green with a wipe-down and low pressure wash is normal. Just bag the alternator and battery.

Also didn't realize this was a thing, might be a good choice for the all black theme and to hide more of the manifold.

You have variety of EA888g3 engine covers to choose. One you mentioned (06K198925CL), non-branded version (06K103925DF), manifold cover only with existing one (06K103925AA) or "upscale cover" from S3 8V 06K103925E, regular A3 8V with EA888 3b 06K103925BD or Porsche macan 2.0 engine cover (some minor trimming required) 95B103925H/95B103925N

To any of this covers, you will require 2 more studs to mount it (06E103164)

^^Make sure you get the extra two mounting studs if you go with one of those covers. I ran my Porsche cover with only two rather than all four and the vibrations were being detected as knock and pulling timing lmao

Changed the oil on both golfs. Good time to change the manifold runner sensor since the oil filter housing was out. P2015 codes are gone but we'll see for how long.
Also installed some APR wheel bolts since the old ones were getting bad.
They'll get a deep clean this week, too much stuff going on.

See below for location of the manifold runner flap position sensor. I like the idea of this journal being a dump of information for others who will have a high-mileage golf in the future.

As seen in the post above, I broke the clip off the old one. I'm sure this is supposed to be done with the manifold off, because releasing both clips at the same time to get the sensor out was a huge pain in the ass.
  1. Remove oil filter housing, cover with shop rag.
  2. Carefully pull back grey locking tab on sensor harness.
  3. Pull out harness as normal.
  4. Release two plastic clips to remove senor.
  5. Reverse install.

I still can't find information on how to run the basic setting in OBD11 after fresh install. I've read I need to do this for both this sensor and the HPFP but I can't find the basic setting in the engine section of OBD. May have to be done with VCDS, will update this post when I figure it out. For now, my P2015, 2004 and 2014 codes are gone.

I have a set (and 1 spare) in my box of random parts. Red car with black wheels... I too am unsure if it's too much, haha.
I feel the same, I get the whole theme is red accents but how many is too many..
Sometimes you see those builds where they go ALL IN on the diffusers, lips, mudflaps.. I'm a proponent of doing whatever you think is cool but that just isn't it for me tbh.
