I don't think I've heard of 0883D for U.S. MST2, this is interesting. Have any details on where you found?

mibsolution has it under MQB Solution -> MST2 -> Firmware. I upgraded to it before I went to MHI2; if I recall correctly, it did not restore the ability to have the screen turn off without a clock.

Could you clarify what you mean by 'applied the patch'? I do not think the SD activator removes component protection so you have to use a different solution for that (I haven't checked what's available for 883 firmware). Did you separately apply a patch for 883 firmware?

I mean, I installed the Activator after installing the FW.

So it seems the manual CP OFF patch is needed. But there isn't the appropriate patch file for US 0883.

I retrofitted a MIB2 H/U and 8" screen, and the first thing I did was update the FW to 0883. Now I'm thinking I should downgrade back to 0867 so I can patch CP OFF.

Fully reading my mind with that info! One of the more bizarre changes the newer 08xx firmwares made. You’re a gentleman and a scholar.

Hello . I activated Congo and Duke on my mst2_eu_vw_p0231d with the help of the documents and indications from the first link. I followed all the steps, including unlocking the function using a vcds interface. After I did all the steps, including a few good restarts, the phone connects to the car, it works as if everything is ok, the music in the car is heard, but the screen in the appconect function is black. Can someone please help me fix this problem? I probably missed something. Thank you in advance !

also my unit is mib2...MST2_EU_VW_P0227D, SW MU 0629, 3Q0035874A.
I did everything according to the instructions, formatted the card, edited adFecs in notepad, entered the installed and supported codes, edited the VCRN and VIN file and copied everything to the SD card, but I'm afraid to start it...:)
Did I do everything right?

I started the installation. luckily for me, everything went off without a hitch. now I have the app connect unlocked, voice commands... the only thing I didn't manage to get was the sport monitor. B201A fault code stored in module 0x5F but does not affect any operation of the device.
Thank you Congo & Duke, thank you all.

Ok so i managed to do it.
1st problem was the version of congo and duke. For me version 3 did not work, only version 1.

2nd problem when transferring to sd card do not copy the folder. Open the main folder then copy contents over.

I upgraded firmware from mst2_eu_vw_e0220d to 231d

I haven't seen any difference although i was hoping for a more modern look. If someone can chime in that it does offer me version 883d, can i update to that??

It is generally not recommended to make large software train jumps with the MIB units due to there being a decent chance of bricking the unit. Given the age of the software train you updated to, and the age of the software train your unit originally came with, I would recommend sticking with what you have now.

Hallo.

I have a Golf 7 With Original Delphi Radio 3Q0035864B never patched.

The Radio have Regular FM Navigation and Dynaudio, and I’m in EU. My Reasons to upgrade or patch are the next explained below.

1.- My Navigation Card is broken, because VW Web site suggested to format it, and of course now it do not read the new maps.

2.- The Radio do not have CarPlay & Android Auto activated and will like to activate it. The codes exist and can be activated, and I understand need to patch for that.

Now after searching is what I understand.

A.- My Actual Firmware is MST2_EU_VW_P08628D With MU Version 0751. I downloaded the last Firmware for my Delphi Radio MST2_EU_VW_P0891D_MU0891 I understand is possible to just get the Higer version to install, is that’s correct? And My Dynaudio will works or will need coding again?

B.- Other problem I can have later is my VCRN Num. CF15 47A2B means nothing between 5 and the 4 is in blank. How do I will type that _ or space or somebody know?

Any experienced suggestion will be really appreciated. I understand will be my risk, but before I touch my radio at list I would like to know regarding those points, to minimize the risk.

Thank you

Hello. Is the software train you listed for your unit correct? From what I have seen, 08XX firmware generally is only four digits, but the one you listed is five digits. When updating software trains, it is generally considered safe to update within the same series (for example, 08XX) and can be risky from other series (though in some cases is perfectly possible).

When updating the software train, you should not lose your coding or dataset (though of course, I cannot guarantee that nothing strange could happen). I previously updated my Delphi MST2's firmware and had no issue with the unit continuing to work with Fender audio (we didn't get Dynaudio for North American Mk7s and Mk7.5s, but it is pretty similar). In terms of picking a version to update to, you just want to make sure there is support for the version you want for your unit's specific hardware (for example, STD, Plus, Nav, etc.) for both the activator and any patch you want. There is a lot of support for EU firmware, so I do not think you will encounter an issue with respect to that.

For your VCRN question, what specifically are you trying to do with that? With the Duke and Congo activator, I do not think you actually need to worry about the VCRN as the patch should cause the unit to ignore conflicts and whatnot.

Just make sure that your car's battery is either connected to an external power source (generally preferred) or that the engine is running (I have not done this but some people say it is fine) to avoid the unit losing power during the patching process.
