Did some custom engine cover painting (UPDATE 08/28)

Updated: Paint has held up perfectly. No peeling or discoloring after 4 months of heat.

Cheers

Decided to add a little color to my engine bay. I'm happy with the results!

Picked up some Tornado Red spray paint from the auto parts store

Took me four coats to cover the black background thoroughly (10min intervals)

and done!

Looks nice OP! Very subtle and looks OEM. Curious as to the temp. rating on the dupli color.

Thanks guys. As far as heat I couldn't find anything prior to buying. I almost bought the high temp engine enamel but ended up going for the dupil because it is made for plastic.

Lets see how it holds up. I'm going to let it cure really well before I put the cover back on permanently. Plastic melts around 220F and there is some insulation underneath the cover.

From previous experience after a year or so the paint starts to peel a bit. I put probably 4-5 layers too. It looks great but you have to upkeep it after a while.
