I made a Center Console Phone Dock

Are you able to close the console door, with phone docked?

That really depends on what phone you have.
In the picture you can see my Oneplus One, 155mm with case, 153 without case.
I can force it closed with the case on, but i am pushing it. With the case off I can close it.

A thinner phone will also sit lower down, and due to the shape of the console, you may get another mm or so of room.
Or if you have something like a Galaxy S8, its actually shorter and will close with no problems

I have the DDOCKS and it works fantastic. I don't have to have a random cable tucked beside my passenger seat and console anymore :)

the only problem is it is a little pricey, but mine was a gift.

I set my phone horizontally on the edge of the opening so I can watch youtube.

Same here. Love the D-dock. I do wish that I could close the door when my iPhone is docked though.

Probably not a good thing to do while driving.

That said, I’ve heard that there is a YouTube viewer app that works via Android Auto. Not sure how that works but it was mentioned in another thread.

I've got no issues with my d-dock and iPhone SE ;-)

I made this because the other option some of you mentioned is way over priced IMHO.
With shipping its a $100.

If any of you have a 3D printer, please give my design a try, or you can always have it printed from a printing service

Really, thanks for this man. I have a friend with a printer. Definitely going to get him to run one of these off for me in all black.

I don't know if you ever saw my thread, but I was trying to get him to do a cover for the coin slots just behind the shifter. We had a few decent prototypes, but life got in the way and he got into a really messy divorce and so it just never happened. Maybe another idea for you :)

Awesome, I hope it works out. And do please share some pictures :D

Mind linking me that thread please. The R and the GTI are slightly different, but I would like to have a look for sure. If its somethign I can mock up on my car I might be able to help

If you have a set of calipers and take some measurements for me I can confirm it, or model the needed changes.

I have a few cables I have ordered from Aliexpress coming in the mail, will allow me to get a few more shapes modeled.

The next one I would like to get is the round plugs as they are fairly common to USB Mico, USB C and Lightning
