Just to update, I'm on holiday now but got a text message from the wife saying "we have won the war" a new gate has been measured and appraised by management, and is due to be installed in the new year.
Awakening this old thread with a question on the same theme: On the RS6 I can manually and temporarily deactivate the "open door beeping" by pressing either of the arrow buttons on the steering wheel -- does anyone know if there is a similar way to manually and temporarily deactivate the beeping when opening the driver's door while the ignition is on and the gear is in N(eutral), i.e. without having to use the VCDS to make it a permanent solution..?
