Best New Mod!

Sort of a mod.
From other forum members I learned about "Sonex Polymer Net Shield".
This stuff is great.
Did the hood of my GTI last week and made a video a week later after washing the car. A week later and the water does not just bead up it runs off the car.
I can clear the entire hood with just my car blower.
Apply much like wax. Takes a little work getting off but not much more than wax.
Much better finish than wax.
Will do my winter wheels now before fall install. Should last a good while.
Give it a try. Worth it.

Pot Hole Avoidance!

Sorry for another commercial link.
Just have come across some good ones.
This one reminds me of how I now drive after bending
two wheels earlier in the year.
This is how I feel when I have to drive my GTI to Nashville.
I only have a 6 mile drive to work, so I feel for those who have
the long commute thru big cities.

Visor Warning Tag Update.

I went to Badgeskins web site to buy some items for the engine cover area. I noticed they have the same art work for the visor warning sticker that fellow forum member "OaklandGTImike" developed in 2015. I purchased this original design made thru Motogfx.com - West coast. This original sticker is the first item below. Over time the edges have been peeling back no matter how much I push it back down.

The new sticker looks much like the original.
It has a clear film application cover, which makes install a lot easier and you can press down on it without touching the actual sticker.
I used the alcohol pad provided, but the first try the new sticker would not stay on. I removed it and used a micro fiber cloth and denatured alcohol to scrub and clean the warning tag, after 10min of drying the sticker held. I left the clear application film on for 2 days so I would press on it more when it was hot in the car. After removing the film it looked good.

Positives:
1. The sticker is thinner and looks better.
2. The colors are better and blend with the visor better than the older one.
3. The VW and GTI logo stick out some, making it look 3D.
4. Application film is much better.
5. Material also feels better. Texture more like visor surface.

Negative - Clean good so it sticks.

Bottom line a big improvement on the design.

I still need to apply mine. I was thinking a healthy dose of 97% IPA and a microfiber was in order first. Great idea on leaving the clear on for a few days so you can man-handle it.

The alcohol wipe they send with stickers shows 70% alcohol.
So there is a lot of other stuff in it also.
Either I could not rub enough with the smaller wipe of something
in it caused the new sticker to not hold.

As close to pure alcohol the better I think.
Post up pics when you install.

Put them in on Sunday. Used a clean chemical guys microfiber with a lot of napp and 90% IPA all over the warning and a good inch plus outside it. Left the clear plastic on so I could keep applying pressure before and after work for when I am ready to take them off. Held yesterday in the 90+ heat all day. Still good today as far as I can tell (can't really inspect the corners, but they haven't fallen down). Pics later.
